KUALA PENYU

Kuala Penyu is at present experiencing exciting times.  Three batches of turtle eggs were successfully hatched within the last one year from eggs found on the beaches by villagers. This is indeed very good news for the turtles as well as the district, as more and more people become enivronmentally aware and more turtle-loving.

 

The most recent release of 44 hawksbill hatchlings was on the 28th of April 2015 at the Tempurung beach, Kuala Penyu.  The hatchery was initiated by the Tempurong Golden Beach Resort, and the release was witnessed by staff of the resort, the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife Department and the Kuala Penyu District Officer, the media and other interested people.
